I can’t see Wyll as a bard. Dancing and singing around the battlefield doesn’t fit his character or story at all from my perspective, but I don’t really like bards much in general.

You did not get the camp scene with Wyll dancing? He seems to be fitting for being Bard to a certain extent. However, I also don't like Bards, if you don't want one it's ok to combi with a Paladin (which I also don't like) or any class.
First I had a lot of considering back and forth wether I could change Shadowheart's subclass, lore-wise, but finally sent lore to vacation and did it (because I was angry after my first and only wipe so far, in the creche in the captain's room, grrrr ...). Why not, it's a single player game.
