Yeah the Owlbear thing was another situation, although this wasn't that big, as I knew it would otherwise be taken elsewhere and I had another chance at it. In Waukeen's rest I just chanced up on the situation and figured it wasn't gonna fly with me, so I rested. I do not know if it was consequential to the story and might have even aided me, because the goblins were hammered at their camp, but I very much rather be in full control of my playthrough. I got into that situation, because of the design choices after all, so I would want it to either state cleary that stuff is time-sensitive, or that nothing happens without me knowing, so I can make more educated choices.
