I expected that the number might flatten out once reviews started coming in, but nope, still strong.

Review scores aren’t everything, but I’m happy that this studio is getting some much deserved recognition. Y’all made a bonafide hit despite having no reviews out due to Bethesda crashing into your launch spot, and that’s pretty badass.

Let's keep the circle-jerking to the main thread eh?

The circlejerk has reached critical mass. It's too late.

Imagine actually caring about critic reviews.

The actual accomplishment is in the user reviews ratio. 2652 positive reviews to only 112 negative.

Imagine reducing the quality of a game to a single metric.

Top of the Global Charts on Steam for almost two weeks.
97 Metascore on Metacritic with 35 reviews.
9.1 Userscore based on 6,741 ratings.
97 on Opencritic with 46 reviews, 100% recommended.
Overwhelmingly Positive (96%) reviews since release on Steam, based on 106,318 reviews.
Very Positive (94%) reviews overall, based on 164,626.
2.5M units in sales during Early Access.
5-10M+ units sold at least.
875,343 Concurrent Players on Steam, 9th of all time, 4th among singleplayer games.

We're reaching levels of circlejerk previously thought impossible.

The only RPG in recent memory to receive this kind of financial and critical feedback by an independent studio (not owned by a publisher) would be Witcher 3's initial reception.

Critics are dumb, and never finish the game pretty much.
.Critics also hate gamers and think we're scum of the earth so they are even bigger trash and untrustworthy. Like that one reviewer who got butthurt over their beung 'too many spells'. Lmao The fact it's liked by fans is more impressive. Ultimately, of course, that shouldn't effect one's individual opinion. I'll decide if I like a game or not; not others. So far, I like it.

This is true. People should form their own opinions.
But if a good critic review means one more person might buy it, and if one more person buying the game makes it more likely that we get more games like this, and if we like the game, then good critic reviews are good news for us.

I don't think you understand what circle jerking actual means.

Yeah, the last RPG to receive this kind of attention and acclaim was Witcher 3 - because BG3 and Witcher 3 are both exceptionally well-made RPGs. Cyberpunk 2077 was also exceptional as far as I'm concerned.

No I agree with you. I'm just referencing an earlier post by fellow poster Boblawblah that we should keep the circle-jerking to the "Great Steam Numbers" thread.

You should definitely make separate threads on each of those metrics.

Gaming journalists rate the game in whatever way their editor tells them to.

A few months ago everyone was saying that Hogwarts Legacy was the dog's bollocks and last year it was Elden Rings. This time next year it will some other game.

I'm still happy, the game gets a lot of recognition. It deserves it. And if it helps, that more people are interested in the game, bring in the positive reviews ??

If it raises the awareness of CRPGs and encourages more companies to have a dabble then that works for me.

PC Gamer gave it a 97 as well (https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-review/)!
Quote
After spending 160 hours unravelling conspiracies, setting fire to monsters and finding increasingly fancy hats for my Bard, I can now confidently say that Baldur's Gate 3 is the greatest RPG I've ever played.
