I'm too much further into the game to bother reloading, but the damaged stats aren't apparent or visible enough.

I think there should be a permanent symbol on the portrait to make them more noticable, I didn't realize Lae'zell had -2 to con, wis and int until much further into the game.

Some players think that greater restoration should be able to fix it or such (going by what I found out about via google > reddit), or at the least reversible somehow because yes I find it game destroyingly bad and want it undone.

Had I known I would have instead save scummed the saves or shoved a hireling into the machine instead, or just skipped it altogether.

Stuff to remember for second playthrough I guess.

Just kill her early like I fun. She's evil, racist, a slaver, and deserves it. Problem solved.

Wait Lae’zel is a slaver?

She's githyanki. Part of the description. Look at who she worships, and how she treats the player. And, yeah, I'm being kinda of a hypocrite since I basically stereotyped githyanki. laugh

Even if you noticed 2 seconds after using the thing, you still shouldn't scum the save to get those stats back.
You should accept the narrative consequence of her being weaker as the result of the narratively bad choice of her using the thing.
If you don't have a narrative justification for not letting her use it, which you obviously didn't since you used it, you should take her reduced stats not as a mechanical result, but a narrative one.
And frankly, it's an objectively good one. You weren't punished, you just moved the story forward in the direction that matched events.

In fact, I have to consider the possibility that they intentionally didn't provide an excessively obvious visual specifically for the purpose of stopping players from noticing for a while, to the end of preventing players from devauleing the story and the game as a whole by save scumming this.

I couldn't ever do that with my Lae'zell frown

Guess I'll just recruit a mercenary fighter to replace her for this playthrough, I tried Karlach for a bit but controversial opinion time, Lae'zell better / stronger.

You really missed out on her whole redemption arch and exposing who she worships as a fraud then I suppose?

Well.. that's what happens when you try to bully, intimidate, threaten, and enslave a dwarf. You suffer the Axe of Justice. It's not my job to redeem evil, but to smite evil. And, no, I'm not a silly paladin. I'm Pure Good - Dwarf Good. I'm.not gonna share a camp with someone who'll slit my throat in camp ir call her fellows to capture me. Or kill innocents because that what she do.
