As a big fan of the game, I'm not sure I agree with the metascore. For me, the game is definitely above an 85, but below a 95. The userscore puts it at 9.1-9.2, and the Steam reviews put it at 94%. I think somewhere in the 92 range, plus or minus 1, is the right score. There are cracks in the later Acts, a lack of total party characterization (banter and companion-to-companion dialogue), places where it is easy to miss out on essential quests or content, certain moments of inconsequentiality in decision-making (later game), and some built-up moments that disappoint. I'd be more specific but I don't want to spoil.
However, what is there is done masterfully. So 92 it is for me.
