Gaming journalists rate the game in whatever way their editor tells them to.
A few months ago everyone was saying that Hogwarts Legacy was the dog's bollocks and last year it was Elden Rings. This time next year it will some other game.
Gaming journos (and journos generally) have a herd mentality. If everyone ("everyone" being merely everyone *they* know) is saying a certain thing then they as individuals feel a strong compulsion to conform to that herd, because to write something that goes against what "everyone" is saying is not "cool."
