After 40hr+ all my characters looks like christmas trees and it can be extremely frustrating or even depressing. I know without reading the whole 398 suggestion pages that solutions have been already asked/debated. Sadly for obscure reasons I saw people who don't care about mismatched aesthetics (or may be enjoying it) fighting against people like myself who actually do and hold it sacred. I can't see why that state of mind since even if a solution is implemented me and myfeelows would be crying of joy while they would just have to ignore it pleasing both sides... Anyways.
I've read some of the first topics in here and reddit and I believe the best solution would be :

- a process that projects the armor "skin" on the armor that you want to equip because of its stats.

That means in a dev point of view :

- creating a consumable that initiate the process (not necessarily if you want your player to have it for free)
- target the "image" you want for it from an armor in your inventory (the armor appearance you like)
- choose the receiving piece of armor from your inventory (the one with interresting stats)
- confirm

You could also use somekind of the same UI there is with the dye process.
step 2 and 3 can be inverted or simultaneous. Thing is it could complicate things in a data handling matter. If you can't change the #ArmorAspectData on one specific armor piece then the inverted process could be a little more tricky :
==> clone a second occurence of that piece you need the appearance, then copy/paste the stat of that selected "avantageous" armor (or vice/versa) finally delete the old avantageous one. At worse case it would be that, at best like i said simply change a the entry for the armor aspect if you have that line in your tables.

I was a mod creator from divinity 2 (shiroho), if you guys codded your stuff around the same for your items/armor datazbase It should be fairly doable.

On a side note : Your game rocks ! You guys are amazing. Period. Please keep spoiling us !
