There was no buildup to her "big reveal" nor did it even matter at that point.

Maybe there us more to it if she gets kidnapped, but if you prevent that you just shrug and go on.

Its sadly very obvious that all the polish went into act 1 and the further you progress the worse it gets.
SPOILER
if she gets kidnapped you fight a brainwashed version of Isobel during the final Ketheric fight. She has a line thanking you for bringing her home and how she was a fool to resist. That’s it. Outside of being Ketheric’s initial cause for his downfall and thus the source of Act 2’s tragedy, Isobel’s character is largely unnecessary. Aylin on the other hand is somewhat more purposeful in her narrative function.
