I want to create a build that resembles the ninja from the Naruto series. Essentially a character that uses martial arts supplemented by some elemental abilities and throwing weapons. Additional abilities such as illusions or healing may also be considered. My biggest issue here is there are so many choices, I'm not sure what the best to make this build.
Currently I have a four elements Monk, but I find that it leans into the elements too much to fit to build I want and runs out of Ki too quickly for me to properly enjoy it. I feel like the open palm Monk is a better basis, but needs a way to add elemental attacks. Any recommendations on how to do this? I know there are the Magic Initiate feats. Perhaps one of those, but are they actually worth it? I have my doubts, but maybe I'm underselling it. Alternatively, I could multi-class. Any ideas here would be much appreciated, as this is where I am least confident.
When it comes to throwing weapons, I figured I should use exclusively finesse weapons like daggers to take advantage of dexterity. Are there any ways to buff throwing weapons? I see Tavern Brawler, but does that work with finesse weapons? What happens after I throw a weapon? Do I need to pick it up again? Or is it like crossbows where I can use it as much as I want?
