To clarify something they do not, you CAN not only keep romancing shadowheart(there is a difference romance/sex scene in act 3 if she is loyal to Shar vs Selune) but you will also have another chance at redeeming Shadowheart(though if you redeem her later she will no longer change her hair to white). IMO it's MUCH better to redeem her later and let her have fun stabbing. I believe you can also save Jaheira if you go to Last Light first, kill Isobel yourself(particularly good for the Dark Urge who gets an amazing reward to killing Isobel), and then deceive and recruit Jaheira. If you go straight for Nightsong then Last Light gets wiped out when she dies and without you being there to help Jaheira dies too.

So yeah, that article isn't very accurate...you can significantly reduce the cost of allowing an extra bit of stabbing. What kind of monster would I have to be to deny my companions' requests to stab people?
