It seems to me that one obvious option is missing.
Why can't our protagonist use the ancient knowledge and captivate Dame Aylin on his own to gain immortality? That would be a real TEMPTATION to take the path of evil. What's the point in gold, or senseless cruelty.
It doesn't break the game if this immortality is the same as Dame Aylin. It is possible to lose even with him if the party is dead and the player is left with 1 hp against a group of enemies, and spends moves to resurrect over and over again
