Try to do it with steam disconected. Open your bin file with steam (or wathever you use) disconected and try to open the game in multiple windows. It worked for me a week ago, after the hotfix that broke the unofficiall method. I even managed to make a party of five characters using a mod XD.
Hope Larian implement custom party creator though.
