Sounds like you want to play an Oathbreaker Paladin. They're a tanky class that gets Animate Dead and a lot of necromancy spells.

Unfortunately, you can't start the game as one. You have to start as another paladin type and intentionally break your oath, then make the decision to change your subclass in your camp.
