Tried to use the bug report form, but it keeps saying I filled it out incorrectly ...

When picking up the letter from the dead zealot of the absolute on the monastery trail, I run into a bug with Wyll every time.
It doesn't matter if I read the letter, or Wyll reads it, he says the line & I say it back, and he gets the exclamation mark above his head.
However, the conversation it denotes does not trigger.

Based on others having the same issue with this trigger (as well as a couple others with Shadowheart elsewhere) in a few Reddit and Steam threads, I did try a full rest in camp (after also reloading to duplicate the bug).

Nada.

The exclamation mark disappears after the rest, but as soon as you talk to him he has only his basic line again, no conversation about his father, and then the exclamation mark is back above his head.

Have you attached a save file or a screenshot when trying to submit the bug report? The form seems to insist on something being loaded, which does seem a little unnecessary!

I can try to do a screenshot, but that will only show Wyll standing there with the thing above his head. Worth a shot next time in any case!

I've got the same bug, and several people are commenting about this in the Steam forums too.

I don't know how to insert a screen shot into the post. It looks like these are set up to have links to online images, but I haven't had an online photo sharing account since photobucket stopped being free. My screensaves are all saved on my computer

To describe the bug: after the fight with undead in the mountain pass--where you find the note about Wyll's dad--Wyll gets an exclamation mark over his head. When your character initiates dialog, he simply says "well met." The only dialog options are to ask him to break party or "leave."

Yeah it looks like it is most often because we've already had that conversation with him earlier.
Bringing him back to Waukeen's Rest is supposed to fix it.

However, now I have the same issue with Shadowheart, at the end of act 2...

I think I'm dealing with the same.

Wyll's got an exclamation mark, and nothing makes it go away.

I just got the issue with Gale, the bubble won't go away but no conversation is available to be able to get rid of it

I'm having that same Wyll "!" bug for a few days now, but I've also noticed that lately none of the other party members have exclamations at camp. Gale, although he has been in my party the entire time, has nothing to say other than "I do enjoy our conversations" for several days now, although he did suddenly tell my PC that she's hot mid-battle a few days ago. Nothing else to say since then, even though the story has been quite eventful. That's not like him.

I fear this play-through might be broken, and I'm considering going back to an old save and branching off to see if I can snap them out of it. The game is still amazing, but I feel I'm missing something without those party dialogues.

Just parroting, I got the same thing going with Wyll but had no idea where it came from. So this has been a problem for people more or less since release?

It's just the way Larian wrote the scripts... They are waiting for you to meet someone or enter an area before having their next talk

Something basic play testing would have picked up

Anybody figured where Wyll want to go for the conversation to happen? I got the same thing
EDIT: Actually, reddit solution of going to the burning house in waukeen's rest seems to work. The ! is gone.

I had the same issue and fixed it by taking Wyll to Waukeen's Rest.

It is important to fully walk into the burning building while he's in the party. The exclamation mark will go away and Wyll will say he can't talk right now, after which you can just go back to camp and he'll no longer do that.

From the patch 1 notes, it looks as though this should now have been fixed.
