Whatever you thought you saw in early access was not in any way related to the dark urge.
There's a scene in the early access dream sequence that is very reminiscent of the stuff the Dark Urge origin got in the final game. It's not caused by the tadpole (in fact, it's directed against it) but you only got to see it if you used the tadpole because that's what triggered these dream scenes in early access.

Say what you want but this is extremely similar to some of the Dark Urge content they put in the final game.
