I'll put most of this spoilers but it relates to the consequences of using the Zaith'isk.
I've just discovered that Lae'zel has a permanent -1 to her Intelligence as a consequence of using the Zaith'isk. Some digging on the net shows that some people got debuffs to up to three different abilities (Con, Int, Wis). This is down to the three dice rolls during the scene.
The saving throws for these rolls is 30 (less for Tav) which makes them virtually impossible. The debuff is permanent - even Greater Restoration wont undo it.
This is bad game design and has nothing to do with choice.
Up to this point the main element of Lae'zel's story is getting to the creche and being 'purified'. Now story-wise it is fairly obvious that this option for getting rid of the parasite will fail just like the others thus far but none of the other dead ends resulted in any sort of negative side-effect and no obvious clue is given that the purification option will.
Even after the process there is no obvious indication, or at least I and a lot of others failed to spot one, that Lae'zel (or whoever sat in the device) received any sort of debuff. The dialogue shifts to the parasite and the doc being a traitor and you are left stood standing in a locked room wondering if you are supposed to wait or to leave the room.
All in all this is poor even by Larian's low standards.
