Now I don’t think BG3 will hit 3x the numbers of DOS2. I don’t think the market for this game is that big. But I do think it could easily hit a lifetime of 2x DOS2, or around 15M. This game is hitting around 6M in sales in its first two weeks, but that’s also including EA. Assuming diminishing returns as time goes on, I think 15M is the right lifetime Steam estimate, or around 900M USD in revenue.
Update: Armored Core has taken out BG3 and sales seem to be slowing down. I expect Starfield to thrash the charts and media cycle soon. Moving up the release date was a smart move in the long run. Expect BG3 to hit DOS2’s lifetime sales by the end of this month, and definitely before end of next month. Expect 12M lifetime sales minimum.

Dust has settled on metacritic: 96. This game is a modern classic, if flawed at certain junctions. What Larian has made here deserves to be applauded. On the other hand, if we collectively gaslight Larian into thinking the game is garbage and needs more work, maybe we can trick them into giving us more free content.
