For people who would want to get the best experience of their first playthrough, I'd also recommend waiting for a definitive edition. I finished the game and even though I liked it a lot, I regret playing it now instead of a year from now. I had fairly few bugs, but it's obvious that a lot of late content has been a bit rushed or not yet included, or will benefit from some changes.
To the OP, I agree with you, you should definitely wait, I wish I'd waited. To everyone who doesn't like waiting, go ahead and play the game, it's really good regardless, just not nearly as polished as it will be in a year.
