One thing that surprised me was that Astarion can't bite undead. I was making an effort to have him
bite Cazador so that he could become a full vampire. Surely, there's a middle ground between being a spawn and being king vampire, right? But it seems like he gets to be one or the other. I just wanted him to have a chance to drink Cazador's blood. Weird that such isn't an option.
