Bg3 went from a top ten rated game to merely a top 30 rated gane. It also got outsold by d4, and just got trashed in the charts by a series I barely heard of on its 6th game. Lol Falling out if favor.
Bg3 is a good game, but overrated. Still better than that garbage D4 thiugh that's a low bar to pass. ![[Linked Image from media.tenor.com]](https://media.tenor.com/qsLpQ9UiahQAAAAM/stop-stop-it.gif) Armored Core… from the studio behind ELDEN RING. Just a barely heard of studio, nbd. Diablo 4… from Blizzard, just a small time no name indie studio. It’s still number 3 on global charts behind CSGO and Armored Core lmao Yea, there's a line between saying "it has some issues" to "it's overrated and falling out of favor". Yikes. Overwhelming positive with hundreds of thousands of players? That's unheard of on Steam.

Articles like https://metro-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/metro.co.uk/2023/08/20/baldurs-gate-3-is-overrated-and-unfinished-readers-feature-19359646/amp/?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQIUAKwASCAAgM%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16930668620128&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fmetro.co.uk%2F2023%2F08%2F20%2Fbaldurs-gate-3-is-overrated-and-unfinished-readers-feature-19359646%2F Are popping up too, i think bg3 is overrated due to the hate on AAA It is a great game larian can be proud but is it 10/10, id say nope I think its overwhelmingly posative because of how poor games have been recently Story is give a 4/10 - felt 100% predictable would have been a 5 or 6 if larian didnt bring back wo many bg1/2 characters, they didnt feel well done imo and just shoe horned to say look we are baldurs gate! Music 8/10 amazing tracks love loved the one song in house of hope, would have been a 10 if the music made me feel as emotional as bg2 sound track or when naruto soundtrack starts playing, or final fantasy music, iv never played everquest 2 but i was listening to the music yesterday and it instantly made me feel wow i could feel the emotion behind the music, bg3 didnt have that Ui/char control 3/10 i put this as a 3 just because of toilet chain, but the ui is beautiful if impracticle the portrait art is good and larian almost got it right But controlling your party is a mess, bg2 had spells in a little spell icon, larian chose a hotbar mess of everything for some reason, its a mess its not good, bg3 is good regardless of this ui not because of it, and char control is poorer for it Actual enjoyment 8/10 i enjoyed the journey the combat all the way up to the end, then was left with disappointment its why its not a 9/10 Is bg3 a great game ? Imo yes, is it overwhelming positive good nope its about the same as cyberpunk, although i liked cyberpunks endings better they at least felt finshed (and i played cyberpunk a year after its release so it had time to get rid of a lot of the jank) I think when all the cut content is back , if the ui and char controls got a bg2 rework I think it could be a 9/10 (sorry i find larians writers cringy and predictable so im probably always going to rate it slightly lower then other people do) , atm i think its a 7 at best, so yeah for these reasons i agree with overrated, even though its still a great game

And I expect to see more and more of this sort of reactions from people as we go forward, simply because these criticisms are facts.

You can send the same letter to said outlet with different opinion and they would probably release it. I'm not surprised that it is released because I'm sure some players who dislike the BG3 for whatever reason would seek their confirmation pill in "article" like this. The reader’s features do not necessarily represent the views of GameCentral or Metro.
You can submit your own 500 to 600-word reader feature at any time, which if used will be published in the next appropriate weekend slot. Just contact us at gamecentral@metro.co.uk or use our Submit Stuff page and you won’t need to send an email.

Okay, so video game insights is likely the better source for sales data on Steam then Steamspy then. Steam spy has the number of owners between 20 and 50 million. VGI has it at around 6 million. No because I was informed the Belgian Embassy got their numbers from Video Game Insights, which at the time had the exact same numbers the Embassy gave to China. An Embassy in China is Not going to have access to Larian sales data, Larian is a private company, and whatever data they share with the Belgian government would not be something they could legally share with China, that would be huge privacy breach given to a foreign nation. So no the VU/Embassy's numbers are not more reliable then Steam Spy why uses specific Valve API to get their numbers.

An article just means : a piece of writing included with others in a newspaper, magazine, or other print or online publication. If its online writing and publicised its an article, some articles are opinion based, this article is an article regardless of if its someone's opinion or not, Also like to add, i like bg3 i think its a great game, i also agree with the overrated opinion, and posted my opinion why and tried to break down what i think is letting bg3 down , im not personally looking for articles to agree with my opinion , i think its probably an unpopular one. I personally can see how the game could improve, not that it needs to or can be perfect

I personally can see how the game could improve, not that it needs to or can be perfect That’s not correct. Not everything printed in a newspaper or magazine is an article. There are articles, editorials, and columns. An article is (ideally) unbiased reporting representing facts and the opinions of individuals involved in the story or people who have notable expertise on the subject matter (not the author). An editorial is an opinion piece reflecting an official stance of the outlet that publishes it. A column is an opinion piece that only reflects the opinion of the author.

At minimum, this game has already surpassed DOS2. VGI has it at 7.5M units on Steam. Steamspy has it between 20M-50M, which is a bit harder to believe, but not impossible. We should expect a few more days of BG3 dominating the games media cycle before it is contested by Starfield. To BG3's credit, it weathered the Armored Core threat brilliantly and has once again risen to the top of the global charts over 3 weeks after release. Based on current reviews, scores, and sales, if Starfield stumbles, BG3 could walk away from 2023 as game of the year.
This is a good game, perhaps a straight up GOAT'd game even, but people are allowed to criticize its shortcomings without being dismissed as haters or their analyses discarded for being subjective, as if loving this game uncritically is somehow the more objective viewpoint. This forum is at its best when we are collectively identifying things this game does right and ways and places in which this game could do better.

No game is 100% perfect, but it is an objective viewpoint that the Steam numbers for BG3 have been great, which is the topic of this thread!

ok i see your point fair enough, you are likely correct, but im probably still going to call "articles" on websites "articles" because its a habit i have and i don't really care enough to define it otherwise, regardless of its intricacies that makes it not an article, thanks for teaching me the difference

Hey, no problem. And lots of people do colloquially call columns and editorials “articles,” anyway. I just enjoy a bit of semantic pedantry.
