I really wish non priests were allowed to choose a good. It is the FR/DnD, dieties are real and they matter. At best, it could add a lot to the game. Even at worst, it is just a nice part of the campaign world, and can play an important part of creating a character so having it 'officially' be part of the character sheet would be nice.

I unironically prefer dragonborn scales over ready action. Sure, in a perfect world we would have both.

Also is pretty weird why only clerics choose it, when Faerun if you see the chronology of the setting Gods were pretty much involved with the whole story. Religion in this game can open for interesting roleplays perspectives besides clerics.
Dont know if is WoTC though given their stupid decision for Paladin not having deities attached to them anymore.

Forgive my lack of knowledge about 5ed, which means I can blame WoTC for some (or all) of those points not Larian, but there are couple of race choices I miss in character creation, that from what I see even won't change in 1.0

* Lack of human subraces - I'd appreciate having a chance to play Cornyrean, Calishite or Tethyrean, even if only for flavour. Just having subrace name on the character sheet would be enough for me. If they'd add some small variety in skill bonuses, that would be absolutely fantastic.
* I don't like this generic approach to elven races, with high elves apparently grouping together sun and moon elves. I liked this distinction in 3rd edition and I deeply miss it in BG3. I suspect this was changed in 5ed and Larian simply followed the rulebook. Still, I'm not happy about it.
* Again, this is something that may have been changed in 5ed, but I miss ghostwise halflings subrace. If I'd ever roll a halfling character, I'd have rolled ghostwise halfling.
* Lack of aasimars. This is a solid argument for those, who claims Larian is limiting good-aligned options. I don't see a good reason for adding tieflings and not aasimars, except lack of time to implement them. I really hope aasimars will be added post release at some point.

Aasimar aren't in the player handbook, while tieflings are. They had pretty much no chance to get added to begin with.

-Rain and weather/atmospheric effects. Simple stuff that's been in RPGs for decades...like when it rains, ground and characters gets wet.

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

Yeah I'm really worried that we won't have armor for potential mounts.

Here's hoping we get some Horse Armor DLC

I just realized that I never listed it:

20- Proper flight/verticality. Apparently the game in the end is releasing with "flying" creatures just floating few cm above the ground, being comfortably hittable in melee and doing very big jumps.

P.S. What the hell? Apparently the opening post of the thread is already considered old enough to not be editable anymore.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

There's some sort of setting I believe, and as our admin is off at the moment I'm not sure I can get that changed. I can still edit though, so if you want to drop me a PM with the new content you want for the original post (the whole thing so I'm not having to edit your text possibly incorrectly) I can pop that in.

Ideally, we'd get something similar to how it works in Solasta, but that game's movement works on a multilevel grid, and I'm not sure the current engine supports that. The simpler solution I see is to alternate between two modes: ground (anyone not flying and creatures that fly near the ground, this is what we have now) and air (visually hovering a bit higher and only being targetable by ranged attacks). Switching modes could be done by spending a bit of movement and it should proc oportunity attacks if done in melee range.

I like the list of spells we are getting, however I remember back in the day of BG1/2 and IWD a lot of fun with Melf's minute meteor and Snilloc's Snowball Swarm. I will miss them.

As much as i like the game i am sorey disappointed about things they obviously did not even consider changing. If it were not for the D&D setting it would be DOS 3 for me. Barrels, surfaces, Jumping out of effects that should hinder movement etc. Shove-galore still happening (a bit less it seems). Conversations still separate for each character and not as a group. Stealth and crime still borked. Spell targeting still "2D" so fireballs are firediscs still...the list goes on.

The only good about that is that i will proll not play this game as long as i feared and my RL will not suffer too long laugh

Edit:

i forgot to mention that there are still too many ways to break the game consistency when you not follow the predetermined route. I love the freedom but if it is not working that is kind of a letdown.
