FAQ can mean a lot of things right now especially for a game that's not even in alpha stage.

FAQ = frequently asked questions
FAQ = frequently answered questions
FAQ = feasible and quick
FAQ = frequently ambiguous & questionable
FAQ = freaky and queasy

take your pick. FAQ's just a guide or glimpse, not rule.

You have at least control over your character and the deathknight.

I just love your animated avatar DATD.

I agree with you, because from the screen-shots we can see clearly that we are in control of the D. K. and the hero. Lar said that they were soul forged and I fail to find any other meaning than being one soul two bodies.
The concept of soul-forging comes from the Bible as in the rituals of marriage. Not any more two but one the H. B. says. Even though they are two completely independent bodies and wills, yet there is a mutual profit in caring for each other. Both the D. K. and the hero know that if one dies the other one dies two, which automatically means that they shall protect each other to full extent because it is identical to self defence.
Therefore having full control on both characters of your party is not a strange or a ridiculous idea at all.

Now besides all that, we need to investigate a little bit some technical consequences of the difficult decision of letting the D. K. become independent. Independence contradicts control; it is either this or that. Being controlled means that the gamer gives commands to that character, while being independent demands an artificial intelligence module that controls it instead. Any glitch in such a module means the death of both prematurely and the game fails during tests, thus they have to debug and debug and debug and hopefully release the game on the third quarter of the year 3002 not 2003.

Cheers.

yep, since the word 'total control' is in, my guess is that we get to control both & our will as gamers is their command. maybe AI is needed for the other when we are in direct control of only one character at a particular time. it can be for something as simple as stance: benign, reactive & aggresive. without the friendly fire of course.

but then total control can mean, at least linguistically, u get to control every single aspect of both (or more) characters. down to their reaction to ambush & attacks. this is hellish in real-time as the character(s) won't do anything while u're busy commanding the other. rudimentary AI is needed still i feel.

what's your 2 cents?

Thanks for understanding me.

Not exactly. It means that the 2 souls are linked but not unified. Otherwise one of the characters would've been inactive and unable to act on his own. Larian said that BOTH of the characters are aware of the soul binding and BOTH want to end it.
