I think they will when they release the first DLC that I have NO idea what or when.
I think this because the graphics in this game are DX11 and in my opinion max it out.
HDR does quite a bit for the volumetric effects and while ray tracing would look great I think it would just lose detail and could mess with Darkvision.
For the current engine more is mot going to add much. It is shockingly real in moments and places.
Now for the DLC people are going to want more because we are greedy goblins, so an engine update also gives more tools to the devs for gameplay.
I see DLC going one of two ways:
1. Build the classic D&D and AD&D Modules from Keep on the Borderlands forward. This would get new content out faster.
2. MAJOR DLC, say Act One size. Waterdeep. Come on, what a great place to mature the spell system!
I would also like to see an arena to have random battles.
