Hello all! I'm looking for a build if there is one to make a dark knight with dark magic or necromancy. What would the character have to be - race, classes or subclasses?
By the way, the next build is a combination of an assassin with a mage, or an assassin with a druid - are there spells that can be interestingly combined with silent kills, etc?

Sounds like you want to play an Oathbreaker Paladin. They're a tanky class that gets Animate Dead and a lot of necromancy spells. Unfortunately, you can't start the game as one. You have to start as another paladin type and intentionally break your oath, then make the decision to change your subclass in your camp.

Spore druids get some darky-necromancer like abilities, including the ability to raise fungal zombies. You'll want to start a class with the heavy armor proficiency if you are picturing a heavy armor "knight", gloomstalker ranger maybe choosing ranger knight for the favored enemy feature. Any race will do, but look at high elf for an extra cantrip and take chill touch for more necro-style points. I would take ranger to 5 for extra attack and the other 7 in spore druid.
Another option would be fighter/wizard, with a level break depending on how much you want to be a knight and how much you want to be a necromancer.

If you want to be more melee focused, oathbreaker Paladin is definitely the way to go.
If you want to be more of a dark spell caster who wears heavy armor, take 1 or 2 levels of fighter (1 for heavy armor, 2 for action surge, which is useful on any character). Then multiclass into a necromancer wizard or spore Druid.
Alternatively, just play a death domain cleric.

Eldritch Knight (Fighter subclass) has access to a few Necromancy school spells. As does the Warlock (you can Multi-class this with a Fighter quite effectively using Pact of the Blade, see this youtube guide) Or you can do what I'm trying to do which is a Spore Druid / (Ranger or Fighter) Multiclass, (wont be as powerful as the above suggestions, but might still be viable - given there are guides for a "Melee War Domain Cleric" out there - which is also a Wisdom caster I believe it could be).

If you're multiclassing from Paladin, mechanically Warlock will work better, because it is also a Charisma class. Spore Druid uses Wisdom for its casting stat, so you would have to be careful not to use spells that rely on saves if you use Druid spells, as you won't have the right stats for it.

Alternatively, just play a death domain cleric. I don't think that there's a Death Domain Cleric subclass ... yet ... BTW - it is easy to become Oathbreaker before lvl2. After leaving the Nautiloid do NOT go up a level, but go and talk to the Thieflings, whom you stab in the back to lose your Oath, then go to Camp and talk with Groundsman Willie, become an Oathbreaker, and only THEN level up.

Yay, death domain was a mod I played in EA. Forgot it isn’t in the official game.

Paladin - warlock is definitely the more synergistic choice. You aren’t getting much out of making your Paladin also a Druid.

It is very inefficient to multiclass before hitting lvl 5 of Paladin, as you'd miss out of a Feat at 4th and the Extra Attack at 5th. Paladin - warlock is definitely the more synergistic choice. You aren’t getting much out of making your Paladin also a Druid. I know that I just droned on about effectiveness :), but a Spore Druid would be a nice continuation for an ex-Oath of Ancients Paladin.
