The same problem is occurring here – a game-ending bug. Afte the patch. I don't believe my issue is related to the Silence spell. I'm at the beginning of Act 3, so there haven't been any fights thus far – only walking around Rivington. Loading an old save worked once, but the problem reappeared, so its not really a solution.
