Is Mystra uncaring? Gale for purely selfish reasons did something STPUID that could affect EVERYONE. Mystra offers him an out to not only stop the evil he could unleash but use it for the greater good. His life would be forfeited but his soul would be able to return, forgiven by Mystra. She has given a way to set things right and allow her lover to return to her, sounds pretty caring to me.
