Try fighting the Beholder colony at level 12 in BG2 lol.
Thats trivial. Buy the Shield of Balduran. Walk in the park.
Its doable without the shield, too, but thats mostly casting Player: Reload until you find a strategy that works.
IIRC Animate Dead works pretty well, for example, because Skeletons have such high magic resistance.
