There is one thing really missing from the <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> and i hope, that this will be in the <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/riftrunner.gif" alt="" /> .
This thing is making and naming your own weapon from normal weap. and minerals

What do you mean "Missing"? You saw it in any other game? Ok, Gothic allowed the player to make normal weapons but that's all.

Arcanum. There you could make some weapons with a certain skill.

Ahh! Didn't think of that :0].
Yeah, but those were tech weapons. You could do a sword or an axe but that's all. And you couldn't name them.

If you want to name weapons, grab DAD's item editor.

Strange. I thought the "of Jurak" attribute would give -10 intelligence but it seems I was wrong ;0).
Nah, joking. I see you added many abilities. All I did was making the dagger from Ars Magicana "Vampiric Dagger" and switched Lightening Damage [2] to Life Drain [5]...

no.....just for you... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

anyway i wouldn't suggest it for first timers,
it makes things waaaaaaay to easy...
...but it's fun after a few times to breeze through
and try to break the record for finishing the game....... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

and i think this should be moved
to the divine divinity
hints tips suggestions section.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

In order to make your own weapon you should have to have the 'blacksmith' skill first, then find the right components, and either buy or rent an anvil and fire forge. This would add to the side quest of the game.

Hmmm... Maybe something of a blacksmith background? Or a quest to become one? Like those strongholds in BG2: you could own a forge?

That is a very fine idea. A weapon consists of a number of elements. A sword e.g. has the blade, a pommel etc. A bow, the wood, the string. Arrows have shafts, feathers and arrowheads. In BG II you could search for parts and have a smith combine them into a cool weapon.

But why stop there? Why not spread ore around the land, the more ore the bigger the weapon, like a Great Sword. A little ore could still make a dagger. A gem can be sued as a pommel gem. A magical gem can be used to enchant the weapon. Shops will carry a range of parts so you can customise a weapon completely.

You can go even further. You can have quests not just to make a weapon but to make one that will kill a certain boss monster someplace. as a sidequest.

To pummel with the pommel ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

Of course you need the help of a magician, if you want to magically "enhance" the sword ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

certain enhancement will have requirements.

for example, to enhance the 'backstab' or 'silent kill' ability of a slashing weapon, one will need a serrated dagger of certain type & not just a butter knife or b*stard sword(too big & clumsy for silent kills).

this will make a lot of mini-dragon armour set quests.

note: some may need upgrades, either the whole item or certain part of the item. read: increase RAM size, HD size, at least win2K or winXP with latest patch. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
