I didn't like what happened in Act II.

Not because it was tragic and awful - it certainly was that. The problem is that it felt extremely forced, plot wise, for the sake of drama, and in the end I was more irritated than saddened. You can't tell me that no other, safer route from Elturel to Baldur's Gate has been established since the shadow curse took hold. It's been decades. These are major settlements. Someone would've figured out a bypass. And in the unlikely event that it's somehow impossible to reach Baldur's Gate without traveling through shadow- and cult-infested lands, then the solution is to go somewhere else. Many other cities exist along the Sword Coast and beyond. And if they were absolutely, completely determined to do this 100% stupid thing - why didn't we go with them?! Apparently they somehow make better time than our group does, and we could've been extra protection! But no. Instead we just show up to find the inevitable has happened.

Honestly, I just sort of sigh, wipe it from my mind and continue playing the game. Maybe I'll fixfic it someday.
