I think I'm done... Between this "deserved" ending (which is clearly just content which should've been in the game to begin with) and the inconsistencies and half-truths peppered all over the last community update, I think I'm finally done...

And this isn't just about dearest Karlach anymore, it's about the whole thing.

I'll finish the game for the first and probably last time, I think, just to... stop, I guess.

And I'll leave my headcanon ending here, as a sort of exorcism...

Fade in post-credits, the PC is seen from behind, sitting on the dock where Karlach died. A teddy bear can be glimpsed in the PC's arms as the camera shifts diagonally. The PC gazes emptily into the horizon.

Withers walks into frame next to the PC, stops, and stares at the horizon with them.

W, softly: "And so... as it has been written, balance has been restored."

A long moment of silence. The PC shifts slightly, maybe considering Withers's words, yet has no reaction to them, their eyes affixed upon the horizon still.

W: "But I ask you again to satisfy my curiosity, one final time: [pause] what is the value of a single mortal life?"

PC, unmoving: "I haven't changed my mind... each life is of infinite value and deserves to be protected at all costs..."

W, tilts his head slightly forward: "... so it is done."

Off-screen, a soft gasp can be heard amidst the gentle sounds of rushing air.

The PC finally turns to camera to meet the sounds with their gaze, a mix of shock and elation slowly blooming on their face. The music swells alongside the bloom, then stops.

K, softly, off-screen: "Hey, soldier;)"

Cut to black.

Justice for Karlach
