Looks to me like they've been patching things in order of priority (good of the many vs good of the few). Also you still have the option to Hide UI entirely with a single keypress.
That said, it is odd for the size of the minimap not to be adjustabie, but I really only notice when playing at 1920x1080 on my hand-held. On ultra-wide monitors it's well out-of-the-way.
