I'd be happier if they got rid of FOW. Why, e.g. is the Hinterlands FOW-ed? People live(d) there, trade caravans passed through etc, etc. Even the Shadow-Cursed Land has harpers mooching about in there. What about all the maps you find on your travels or all the "let me mark your map" NPCs who place a marker in the middle of nowhere?
I will say that I think the improvement in the map and minimap was one of the best things in the change from EA to full release.
As for no map - unbind the M key so you never activate it by accident and zoom in the minimap so you only see a tiny part of any area.
