Actually, when I played the first time, I didn't know about the dagger. I only saw the (apparently randomly picked) spellbook you called useless. In my case however, it was the "Fade from sight" spell. I forgot my level when I got it, but it was *way* below the level requirement before you can cast the spell.

Now the nice thing was that my weak and puny mage could do the quests in orc land that you get from the military camp sort of early on. My mage couldn't stand against all those orcs, instead I stacked on mana potions, went Invisible and just kept running and running, placing the bomb and getting the hell out of there.

Agh! Speaking of stamina... Since I just started playing.. I have a low level assassin. And nothing sucks more than running out of stamina while you are doing sneak attacks (backtabbing) in the middle of attacking a high level creature

You don't have to sneak to backstabb. Backstabbing occurs once a while, depending on your skill level, but you don't need to sneak, really!

This is what I discovered.. (must sound stupid to those who had played the entire game already but.. sorry.. I'm just learning the ropes) sneaking to attack an opponent gives an advantage to the assassin. The opponent just seem to stand there, oblivious of the consistent stabbing. Perhaps, it was the wrong observation. But, that was what I noticed.

This is fun because i always played with survivor and never used his sneak personal skill.
