I believe (but I might be wrong?) that ritual spells are free regardless of your class in BG3, though Wizards of course make a better use of them just on virtue of being able to prepare more spells, so you don't need to make a big sacrifice to have them at hand.
I personally find that the smaller spell selection makes sorcerers shine as specialized casters, while wizards are very great generalists. So I do like having both of them in my party: a wizard for utility/control and a sorcerer for area of damage. The reverse also works of course, and even on my damage-oriented sorcerers I can't resist the siren's call of twinned Haste or Hold Person/Monster. It's just too good!
