I believe you can go to the dungeon, rescue Lae'zel and then continue playing. If you do go to the foundry Gortash will turn against you, but at least on my playthrough that only meant the npcs in Wyrm's Rock were hostile. It didn't affect Lower City or the refugee area, so I consider it to be sort of on-hold? lol
