How does the romance with Astarion progress in Act III with no spoilers? Do i have to wait until the final battle for anything else to happen with him after the Szarr fight? I persuaded him not to ascend

You can have some romantic dialogue with him during the final battle sequence, then there's a (short) epilogue at the very end.

so nothing new until then?

Nope. That's it. But you should get a scene right after the Cazador fight, if you haven't seen that.
