A Lolth-sworn Drow is basically an indoctrinated Drow, similarly to how the Githyanki are indoctrinated by Vlaakith. Meaning you're pretty much entirely shackled to the Queen of Spiders and her social norms of Menzoberranzan which live and breathe through your character who fully participates in kidnapping children, enslavement, misandry, acting superior against "lesser" races, "lesser" sexes and so on. And anyone who fails the Queen of Spiders ends up as a drider for punishment.

So if you're interested in a non-evil Drow playthrough, I fully recommend the Seldarine Drow. Their racial responses are fantastic, especially when they get to break the racial stigma and make the Lolth ones look bad grin
That's what more or less what I inferred from the game itself, though "Lolth-sworn" seems a bit off. I mean, a follower of Vhaeraun still adheres to most Drow values, though such a character would presumably chafe at matriarchal rule. Still, I don't think that Larian would consider such a character a 'Seldarine Drow.'

As to the surface Drow living in in long lost cities, I'm actually fairly interested in the idea if it's well executed. I've always been a sucker for 'Lost Civilization' stories, as seen in H. Rider Haggard, A.A. Merritt, and some of Edgar Rice Burrough's works.
