I have sorcerer working on adds, karlach, shadowheart and astarion focusing boss. Boss will be almost dead and this facking paladin comes in and lays the smack down, usually annihilating whomever he hits in one round due to smites. And he never misses. There's usually still casters alive too.

Group is tiger heart barb(karlach), trickster cleric (shadowheart), and thief/gloomstalker (astarion), with my fire specialized dragon sorcerer.

I can respec anyone, but the only one I have is astarion. My sorcerer has the highest ac(lol shields).

I didn't
recruit the gnolls
so they're in the fight, too.

I play on balanced because I like multiclass capability, and I tried this fight on explorer even and never got it. Next major boss fight also has me reeling at the thought of it.

When a mob gets multiple attacks per round, crits like a b, smites on each hit and wrecks your characters in one turn idk what to think.

I know I'm not a great player but damn.

My party i think is lvl 7. I didn't do mountain pass so I wonder if I should say, go back and do that? Or have I hit the point of no return?

I think trying to do that at level 7 might be your problem.

I’m level 8 in current game and just about to go to Shar’s gauntlet. Will probably be 9 once I’m done with all that. I’m sure it can be done at lower level, but it’s going to be harder.

Maybe go back to mountain pass if you can? There’s traders, good loot and a fair bit of story that way.

As for the fight, I favoured crowd control last time. Hypnotic pattern is a great opener and I think even the harpers aren’t dumb enough to attack the enemies that are just standing there. Possibly leave either Astarion or Karlach behind and bring Gale for more spell options?
