I've still got Win98SE on my old PC (Athlon TB 800) - I can play Zanzarah on it. Win XP doesn't like this game - and my 98 version is very stable.

Windows 98 is much lighter than Windows XP. Win XP requires twice the memory of Win 98.

yes thank god this is a dedicated forum with wonderfull people.

i know some forums where everything that's counts is to have the best processor at that time . they overclock it. buy the fasted videocard there is.
i know of one person who bought a radion 9700 pro and now he bought the radion 9800 pro because it's 10% faster or so ...

don't get me wrong , i don't dislike overclockers or people who buy a top 3D card.
but simply said , these people are forced to upgrade there pc's to be a part of that comunity.
have a 1.2 GHz processor? they laugh at you . understand me?

i have bought this new Pc because it was needed to get th e job done in a reasable time. espacialy for the games it was a releive. i know i gonna have this "girlfriend" for atleast 3-4 years.

it was with pain in my hart when i had to "dumb" my previous girlfriend and give it away to my brother-in law!

she's in good hands now

I understand you fully, Bean. I still miss my little P 90 - I could play Ultima 7 perfectly on him and I liked Win 95.
I gave him to my friend, her boyfriend had left her and she needed distraction. Well, and now she's a media broker
but I still miss him... was my first love...

guys & gals, true system specs aren't everything but when the so-called groundbreaking & pocketslashing game comes to town, we'll be cracking our heads, "where do i get that extra $$$ for that blasted **name the most coveted computer component that u've been wanting to have**?!?!"

dreams, with or without, i have to make do with what i have.

-AMD Duron 700MHz (yeah i'm still stuck at entry level)
-256MB DDR 266MHz RAM
-MSI KT266-something DDR mobo (that's only because my old mobo had a few capacitors blown)
-Geforce 4 MX440SE (got it dealer price & it comes with TV-out)
-Soundblaster Live Value (yeah only 4 channels but who's complaining?)
-20GB HD
-Liteon DVDROM (coupled with the geforce TV-out & SB Live & it's home theatre)
-mouse & keyboard are standard OEMs & they're not too shoddy.
-speakers? well it's my dad's 12inch philips loudspeakers with supertweeters (he built the boxes himself) & a set of modded pc speakers for rear. not too bad.

let's not talk of monitors. 15inch is minute.

Well, I'm not the kind of guy who would post in this kind of topic but I wonder if anyone knows a place in Belgium where you can buy a good/cheap computer? I need one for my student chamber in Leuven soon ... and I don't have that much money .

And to remain "on topic":

PII 466
128Mb Ram
Voodoo3 16Mb graphics card
SB AudioPCI 64V sound card
Packard Bell 15" monitor (it's so old that it has become fuzzy)
32x/12x/48x cd rewriter and 48x cdrom
adsl usb speedtouch modem
white computer casing .... with one led broken

There's lots of stuff around these days. Check papers, shops, ask freinds if they know someone,...
And why not ask around in school? Put a note up or something. It would be handy if you could get it in Leuven.

Ok then, another computer question .... there's pentium celeron, pentium III and pentium IV .... but if I get a Celeron 2.6Ghz, is there much difference with a pentium IV 2.6Ghz ?

I mean, if you look at game requirements , and the box says you need a pentium III 450 ... does that mean I can't play the game with a Pentium celeron 2.6 Ghz ???
Because that would make no sense to me at all
