I played on normal and then tactician, but I also checked out 'story mode'. I do think that 'story mode' should be that - basically, no substantial combat (except for show really) since you are really just playing for the story. Otherwise it is not a "story mode". Larian could call the existing mode 'easy mode' and then introduce a 'story mode' that does what I described (which is what I suspect most people mean when they talk of a story mode). Other games do already have such story modes. And it is easy to implement here - we have a tadpole that gives the player superpowers, it could simply provide resistance to everything (like the potion of universal resistance) and regeration etc.
