People have sadly been conditioned to think that "high level armor" must be covered in spikes, oversized shoulderplates and other nonsense. So Larian is, sadly, following the expectation of people who often have never seen real armor in their life and also can't appreciate simple functionality and instead want bling every to show off how special and rare the armor is.
