Let me start by saying that I love this game and I think the Blood of Lathander is an excellent artifact. I am still in Act 1 at level 6 and just found my first Opportunity for Improvement for the game. I'm playing a Cleric of Lathander and I was surprised that my character's background did not play into the interaction with the traps nor the artifact in any way at all. Not a huge deal and I'll figure out how to put the artifact in the hands of a Cleric of Lathander, but it's a shame to have to destroy the whole monastery in the process.

I think it would have been cool if my character could have passed through the force barriers and maybe had an interaction with Lathander when reaching for the Blood of Lathander.

That's because you must do the Puzzle with the blessed weapons of the dead priests. If you don't do that, you don't get the brooch from the room with the broken painted glass, and it is that brooch you need to slot in to not trigger the destruction mechanism. Thus, you can save the monastery and still receive the mace.

Wait. Can you survive getting the mace without doing all that?

Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

I don't think you even need to get the brooch. I remember jumping through some hoops to save the situation.

You have to destroy every power source crystal when you're in the chamber with the mace. It's doable, but it's incredibly annoying. Not sure whether you can do so before trying to steal the mace. I find it way easier/quicker to just place the correct weapon types (normal weapons will suffice, no need to hunt for the ceremonial ones) on the altars to get the dawnmaster's crest

That's right!

I just had everyone shoot their missile attacks. By then I had given everyone a good ranged option, so it was easy as.

As a selfish and daring rogue Tiefling, I assumed OFI meant "Oh, **** it" based on how my encounter with the artifact went grin

I ended up destroying all 4 myself, but after the fact I noticed it looked like there was a wall battery that may have powered all of them on the side of the platform you're standing on. I couldn't help but wonder if destroying that would've shut them all off at once.

Good question... I think I destroyed it just for good measure with my first group smile
But as I hated the look of the weapon, I reloaded an earlier save and just left the bloody thing behind with my first group. My second group did the quest more or less the correct way .

I just watched wolfheart do it by running out with cunning dashes and misty step. Two got out. There's a cool cutscene.

Dang, I never found that room apparently. I was able to take the artifact and get all 4 of my people out alive. I still think it's a miss by not having the Cleric of Lathander play into this piece at all.
