Mithara is a hot dommy mommy and all, shadowheart is... annoying AF mostly, the other companions are good too

But Lae'zel, omg I am so in love with her, she has my heart. I can't stand it..

I've got it bad, I feel guilty if I even flirt with the anyone else.

Its so strange cause at first I was like ok this just can't be my first party member can it?

Lae'zel is great. It took a while to warm up to her, but she is the most down to earth and honest of the companions and her story arc is great.
I didn't think, that it woudl be her storyline that t
ies up the most with the main story tbh.

Lae'zel is fantastic, but do you have to end the "fling" with her to romance the other characters?

No during the fling phase you can keep romancing, only when she falls in love with you and expresses her desire to be your partner. After that she will not share.

Lae'zel was my favorite character during EA, only now dethroned by Karlach, but she's still up there as a favorite. I'm doing her romance now and I think I'm realizing that the two are my favorites for similar reasons; they're both allowed to go BIG. I think the best moments of writing in this game are when the characters are allowed to just let loose and bombast - just look at the Dark Urge intro "twitching knife-hand carves a tragedy of blood"? That is damn Shakespearean. Lae'zel and Karlach are both the characters that do that the most in varying ways. Lae'zel just gets to be dramatic, gets to speak in bold declarations and flowery, eloquent monologues declaring her faith and purpose. Karlach speaks in a more down to earth, grounded way, but it's her emotions that are big. When she's sad, she's so sad, when she's happy, she's joyous, when she's angry, she rages. People are so concerned with things being realistic but I think they forget the joy and excitement of that kind of performance/writing, and it's on full display with those two characters.

Laez wasnt a regular in my party, but I think I found her most compelling as a companion. I thought she had most and best content in the game
Gith creshe, stealing hammer
and her story ties with main narrative rather neatly.

I will be honest, I don't see what people see in Karlach. And I don't mean it in "how can you like her", but literally: "what is that too her?" She has been a regular in my party since I run into her, on account on her being the good melee class, and she felt like she had little to no content to her. Meet smith once twice, and than it's confrontation with her old master - which I liked aftermath, well done, that's a bit little too late.

Is it because I didn't romance her?

I also suspect I am the only one, but I can't figure out how they matched VO with her character. That's the only companion, whose VO feels like a complete misfire to me. There is no way, this voice is coming from that body.
