Hi all, and whoever at Larian is reading this!

I don't know about you, but I certainly prefer my Tieflings without tails, just like other people who prefer their Dragonborn with tails.

Just hoping we can get these options for these races, since more options is always a good thing!
I know adding a no-tail option wouldn't be a terribly difficult thing for Tieflings, though I understand having to develop additional art assets for the Dragonborn would be a bit more difficult.

What do you guys prefer?

Thanks! I've included it in feedback doc - Tieflings are iconic with their tails though, but I don't see why it couldn't have been cut off during their time before an adventure either in a fight, accident, etc. Or just a genetic flaw or whatever backstory fits 😋

Much appreciated!

I know personally, I still enjoy the horns and no tail, but since we do have a "hornless" option, I'm sure people could definitely combine that with a "no tail" for their backstory as well. ie. They were all removed as a baby in the hopes they would turn out "normal", etc.

Hopefully the devs don't mind this little change and it makes it into next patch! laugh

I like my Tiefling better with no (mandatory) tail. More specifically, I like my Tieflings as having, usually, some visible modification/mutation/variation. It might be a tail, some horns (big like in BG3 or more discreet), a different skin colour, weird eyes, a different eye colour, a different (un-dyed) hair colour, 6-fingered hands ... or a mix of several or all of those. Something different, unnatural/unusual, something that sets them apart as being Tiefling/other. But nothing set in stone, like the standard full Devilish look.

Perhaps obviously, I prefer my Tieflings to be generally anyone plane-touched or magic-touched, rather than only Devil-kin.

Has the hornless option improved ? Or does it still look very visibly like horns that were cut ? Because no-horns and cut-horns are definitely not the same.

Technically still the "cut" horns, but I agree with the rest of your post.
I'm sure things like 6-fingered hands probably won't make it in, but some "no tail" and "no horns" options would be nice for anyone who wants them.

I mean, you can make a pink dwarf or a drow with regular elf skin, and NPCs still refer to you as a drow. Here's to hoping we get he tail/horns choices!

My problem with teethling's tail is that it swings a lot from its "root", strengthless, like a chunk of rubber toy. If the tail's swing animation was: at root, only swing a little, the further goes down, the more it swings, as if the root of the tail start the movement, and drive the rest to move along with it, like a whip. And at the tip, it could swing as joyful as it want.

That's partially what bugged me about it too, especially because I want to play a Barbarian.
All that running, jumping, throwing... The tail just wiggles around on its own and it looks a little silly lol

I think the dev team would eventually develop a much better tail skeleton in the future. Since demon creatures would also benefit from the visual enhancement on tail. I guess the cheapest way would be let the upper part of the tail static, and only moves the tip.

I know it’s probably corny but I would love to be able to just have the tail wrapped around my waist like a saiyan lol. No need for new mechanics just a nice little visual thing 😂

Tieflings aren't really iconic for their tails at all, and a LOT of them simply dont have them.

Tbh they aren't too iconic at all except that people think they sexy.

YUp. Not iconic at all. A silliness added to the setting a short time ago. Dragonborn - same.
Regardless of how cute and moe Doric in the movie was, I'm not interested in the mutants.

On the topic of tails, I was hoping we could choose tail type. Planescape Torment had tieflings with really thin, fast and agile tails that could twitch and spazz in moments of excitment for example, but at the same time they had a lot of control over it (kind of like rats) smile

PS: Please Larian do something about tails and cloaks, it looks AWFUL. At least give us the option to hide cloaks...

I wasn't aware there was such a document. Is it simply something passively maintained from comments on the forums? Is there anywhere to see it?

That's because docking has been outlawed. Part of a Sharian plot to undermine the moral fibre of the Sword Coast!

Tieflings have a much larger variation than Dragonborn in appearance is the thing, because they come from a wide variety of demons and devils, a lot of this variation is mentioned in the sword coast adventurers guide.

But I can give a pretty good visual example of a tiefling that doesnt follow what you expect.

Annah from Planescape Torment.

And then there is... the other tieflings, which... I think Annah is the only one with a tail?
