And, a question from the ignorant...isen't there a seperate alphabet for Russian? I didn't think you could write it with an English alphabet...

Yes, there's the cyrillic alphabet for slavic languages, invented by the monks Cyrill and Method (sp) to teach the bible to us.
Though like in every language you can write the words in any letters. Since not everyone has the Cyrillic alphabet installed, some people write using Latin letters.
