I've been playing 60-70 hours in medium settings with 0 crashes, since the weekend i can't play, the game is laggy, takes forever on loading textures and get stuck
Is a known error?
there is a way to return to pre patch 2?

Exactly the same situation here. I'm at the point in Act 2 where the crossing the bridge at Moonrise triggers the cuts enemy with Jaheira. The game crashes every single time it starts, and sometimes before - as either the graphics aren't loading properly or the characters (and only the characters nothing else) start flickering and any character movement causes the CtD. Waiting doesn't rlfix it, so it's not a load lag either.

Tried going back to earlier saves in Act 2 and those crash the game too.
I've checked all my drivers, windows updates and firewall...same thing
Tried lowering my graphics settings, and repeating with different saves...same thing.
Tried dirextx11 and Vulkan, through launcher and direct...same again

Before someone asks...No I don't have any mods installed, and it isn't specs related and my pc ran the game moderately fine before Patch 2 (random CtD when quicksaving in a conversation)

Same same. I dropped down to low settings to play this game but I have a 4070Ti that should handle ultra graphics. And every time it crashes I have to reset all the settings and options. This game is unplayable now.

i tried to restard the game from beginning but the performance is awful in the chapter 1 too, one week without solution, the only think i can do is download a pirate version pre patch 2 to finish the game, very upset with larian

im having huge issues too. no crashes or slow loading textures tho.
from early access, to official release and up to august 23rd i was playing on ultra settings, dlss balanced and my fps were 85-110 depending on the area.
In lower baldurs gate my fps were between 55-75 with some drops here and there to jut annoy me but nothing major.

After the "fix" from patch 2 and the hotfixes the game in lower baldurs gate (for me) is literally unplayable. dropping to 10fps for a pretty long period of time (4-5 seconds) very often to the point i get nausea. vomit inducing bad.
in other places everything is seemingly normal, but in baldurs gate the games performance is taking a huuuuuuuuuuuuge nosedive that it shouldnt with a 5800x3d and a 3080ti... especially since it never did it before the patch and the hotfixes.

oh i always used vulkan (swapped to dx11 to see if there is any difference, but spoiler alert : it was the same).

To me it happens in the shadowlands, after the nightsong cutscene. For a second jaheira is visible. Is this maybe causing the problems (like former act3 jaheira bug?)

Oh please Larian, fix this. Or better unfix. Had zero problems before hotfix 6 (or so, September updates)

oh yeah the shovel thing is true, tried to use it in cazadors castle to uncover something but wasnt working with any character (tried them all)

Hi y'all.

I hope a Larian Dev picks this up. I have racked up over 200 hrs of BG3 and to be fair until Patch 2 came out I never had any game breaking issues. Just the occasional bug here and there that didn't even merit a mention because it got patched.

The down side here is since Patch#2 the game will crash upon loading. Splash screen comes on, loading comes on and gets stuck at 100%, only have GOG kicks in that we then proceed to the title scree 'Click any button to continue'. It would see this issue is caused in part by Larian's launcher.

When I open the file 'bg3_dx11.exe' straight the installed files (bin folder); the game would load up in seconds without any issues, like before.

Is there a way to bypass Larian's launcher? Let GOG's launcher do it's thing so my achievements get unlocked?

I have sent a bug/crash report and haven't received a ticket number in return. Just an email pointing me towards larian's website.

Besides the fact that this thread is about another issue (not crashes) - erm�. It�s really horrible after such a long time of played to have a forced break.

Please Larian, hotfix this asap.

There's definitely an issue with texture loading and crashes since patch 2.

Stranger Things:
I did some testing with my savegame. Well not a proper Dev-Like-Testing but�

It seems it�s a very complex issue. Is it progress-related or maybe cut-scene related?

Fact is: loading an older save (pre-nightsong) I have NO issues anymore.

So I will proceed now doing other stuff before entering moonrise-towers and doing nightsong�

For me not easy to identify �texture x,y is responsible�
Will try now if doing the nightsong final changes when I have another �world progress�

small update here: maybe its a red line im crossing now in the shadow lands. ... but it doesnt matter wich older savegame i reload. as soon as i come closer to the house of the healing..... its getting laggy. no FPS drops, i have the "action-lag". Jumping happens after 5-10 seconds. just like every action initiated by me.

okay for me its the cutscene AFTER nightsong (Shar) Dungeon. Shadowheart talking to me and after that, the action-delay is happening.
i tried another solution, killing shadowheart (omg) but.... same.

-> it seems to be the second cutscene after nightsong for me. a point of no return, i cant do anything from here.

-> but this also happens, when im am not going into the dungeon. ignoring the nightsong-quest completely just triggers the action delay a bit later in the shadow-lands.

WHAY !?
i dont get it.
i tried everything now. drivers, mods, no mods, older saves, deleting savegames... etc

shall i wait for half a year?

I had the same issue, but switching from Vulkan to DX fixed it completely. Sorry I don't have any other advice to give.

small update here, it seems its shadowheart for me. i left her in my camp now and my lags are gone. WHY ? damn i wanted to marry her^^
