I still haven't gotten to the end yet because of how disappointing I read it is. His main objective was, firstly, to get rid of Cazador and, secondly, to be able to live in the sun after years of darkness. After reading many posts during the EA era, I thought the key to getting that ending was in Thay's book of Necromancy and the scroll of true resurrection. I thought that because that was the only way the book would be relevant after he didn't need it to get rid of Hunter anymore, but when that didn't happen ... I wish I had let the book rot in the ruined town because the ghoul's spell isn't worth it. There are multiple options to make him sun-resistant or even let him have an ending when he rejoins his brothers and sister in the Underdark, but what we get is just... horrible after all the character growth he experiences during the game.
