Similar issues with my campaign. I have about 5 people who want to play, but can only play inconsistently.
The first night, we had 3 people, so 3 player characters. No problems so far. Next night, one player couldn't play, so we got another of our friends to join. But he was unable to create his own character and was simply assigned the character of the player who wasn't there.
It is a little frustrating and I wish there was a solution.
Loving the game, just wishing this issue could be resolved. Why they hell do you have so many slots in the wardrobe if you it can really only hold 3 characters?
Running into this exact situation. It's really confusing how Larian just seems incapable of implementing these multiplayer features in a way that makes sense. I really don't mean to be rude here guys but... c'mon. People were complaining about these issues 3 years before launch and they're still not properly fixed...
You've got a wardrobe, we can store characters inside, I can have three dudes in the wardobe... now if a fourth friend joins on another night; he is randomly assigned one of the three from before? Why? Why can't he just make his own guy? What is the point of the wardrobe if the character is still taking up a slot whether he's in the party or not? This is just so weird. If you can't fix this Larian, at least PLEASE let people do character customization for the locked in characters. It sucks so much to have to tell people "well you can join us, but you have to play as "Sporington" and you can respec her but you can't change her name or appearance so uhh... enjoy just playing someone elses character I guess?
Just... why? Why?
