Hey there,

While waiting for Mac releases, have anyone tried running BG3 on boosteroid ?

If yes, how's the performance and game play experience so far ?

thanks !

ok, I haven't reached the city, not even at the goblin camp yet but:

-> the boosteroid client, that you can download, is total crap - poor performance;
-> running the game in "boosteroid browser" is night and day in regards of performance.

-> either way, it consume lots of bandwidth - if you are in a starbuck wifi, people will react a bit shadowheartgiggle

-> the nice thing is you don't have to download the game and it can be played on any browser devices. The saves still sync with steam cloud.

-> I think, in the version hosted by boosteroid, there's a glitch - when creating character when selecting "female" body type 2 and 4 shows up as male and only body type 1 and 3 are showing as female - regardless if you pick female. (it's also true the other way around - pick male but body type 1 shows up a female ..). Is this normal on native BG3 client (microsoft ppl could tell) ?

-> boosteroid subscription is 9e/month or 7e/year - this is where things break - with nearly 300hrs in BG3 EA, I couldn't resist so if you have a better willpower than I, it's not worth it and should wait for the real mac version .. or just get a PC.. my 2 cents

Early Access works on Steam. I just cracked 200 hours.

Guys patch 3 comes out tomorrow and adds Mac as a supported os

I personally think many people will still opt to use emulators but choice is always nice

I played through Act 1 three times on Mac during Early Access. When the full game came out, I couldn't wait, so I got GeForce Now - the online dealio, and it's been amazing. Both on my M1 MacBook Air (at 2560) and on Mac Studio on a 4k monitor at full 4k. You have to pay for the higher tier ($20/mo) for the higher resolutions but honestly it's amazing. I have regular old 100mbit cable internet. I do plug in over ethernet cable if I can but have also played on wifi. It also works with an Xbox game controller and I've even used the AppleTV display sharing to play with controller on big TV (again at 4k). Anyways thought I would share that to my fellow mac users as a way to play if you are really impatient. (I think they delayed again to Friday). Hope this is useful to someone.
