The bright side here is that the save bug allowed me to not progress my story past Dammon being dead at Last Light. I went back in the middle of the Gauntlet of Shar and thought maybe he'd gotten ganked during the initial attack there that I repelled since I was focused on not letting anyone inside die. Happy to know it's just a bug and I should go play Cyberpunk 2077 until the fix gets released.
